> Data Sources by Indicator
Data Resources for All Community IndicatorsOrganizations and agencies concerned with the well-being of communities and the people within them have determined that certain data sets are useful in describing the well-being of a given community or population. These data sets are called "community indicators." They have been categorized in a number of different ways according to the organizations that monitor them. "Although a number of cities, states, and regions in the United States have comprehensive key indicator systems, there is no such system for the United States as a whole." (www.gao.gov/npi/) In addition to what is listed below, an extensive list of data sources may be found here: http://www.firstgov.gov/Topics/Reference_Shelf/Data.shtml
When you click on any of the topics below, you will find links to relevant data sources. Additional links will be added in the future, and suggestions are welcomed. Please send them to Diane.Maxwell@maine.gov.
